About this work
At the centre of the painting is an azure bluebird — an image linked to the “bird of happiness”. Around it swirls a vortex of light and dark thought-forms that convey a person’s inner state.
The work was made at a turning point in the artist’s life, at the start of her emigration from Russia to Estonia. In that period, art became a way of making sense of anxiety, upheaval and uncertainty.
The painting is about thoughts as inner words and images that shape how we perceive reality. Dark thoughts can bind us and take away our inner freedom, while bright ones support us, fill us with energy and help us move forward.
“Thoughts” is a work about inner dialogue, emotional balance and the search for light in a time of change.
Materials: canvas, acrylic

2022
Eight works painted over the years of emigration — from Russia to Estonia, and then to Portugal (2022–2026). Recurring images of birds, nests and a cocoon, warm light on deep blue, and fine unbroken threads. The shared thought: home is not walls or borders, but what you carry inside.
